The European Champion Cup round 1 proved to be a great one and the first ever game in the tournament history was played at the Stoop
HARLEQUINS 25 – 9 CASTRE
Hands up for Danny Care as on his Harlequins return he latched on to Nick Evans chip and dived over. Not as many tries as we had hoped but 25-9 was not a bad scoreline (most points from the boot of Nick Evans).
SALE SHARKS 27 – 28 MUNSTER
Munster just about rounding of a win against a well trained Sale Sharks side. 26-27 was a fair score at the end of the game.
SARACENS 30 – 23 CLERMONT AUVERGNE
Strettle dived over twice to seal a well deserved victory for Sarries. However at time Clermont showed what they could do and showed a great amount of skill.
LEICESTER TIGERS 25- 18 ULSTER
Niki Goneva such a prolific Leicester try scorer ran in yet another try but it was not just the man of the match who played well the whole Tigers team deserved the hard fought victory.
GLASGOW WARRIORS 37 – 10 BATH
A strong Bath team, possibly the inform Aviva Premiership team at the moment were brought back down to earth by a rampant Glasgow Warriors team consisting of many scottish international like Sean Maitland and Stuart Hogg.
RACING METRO 92 20 – 11 NORTHAMPTON SAINTS
Aviva Premiership table toppers Northampton Saints toppled from their dominant position in the english top flight championship losing to Racing Metro 92 team who are struggling to find any form this season.
OSPREYS 42 – 7 BENETTON TREVISO
Treviso were hammered by an Ospreys team that includes many amazing Lions and Wales stars. The Ospreys ran in 5 tries against a team of brand new signing struggling to come together as a group.
TOULOUSE 30 – 23 MONTPELLIER
Montpellier, at the moment, are a team of injuries. Francois Trinh-Duc is recently out for 9 months with a broken leg and without him they are struggling to look like the Montpellier everyone knows. This game will be a confidence booster though.
TOULON 28 – 18 SCARLETS
Toulon are the double champions and a going for a third consecutive win this year. Many people doubt they are a to strong a team to break down but the Scarlets gave a challenge down in the South of France.
LEINSTER 25 – 20 WASPS
Waps earned a halftime lead of 9 points but the irishmen gave them battle in the 2nd period. Christian Wade’s piece of magic looked to have one it for Wasps but Ireland’s number 1 team battled it out and came out winners i the thriller of a match this became.
