Wasps vs London Irish

Wasps first game at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Andy Goode kicked 2 penalties before the first score. The try came on 15 minutes when Joe Simpson was tackled trying to clear the ball. Cowan up then offloaded to Geoff Cross who scored underneath the sticks. Homer converted to give Irish a 1 point lead. Goode hit 4 penalties before halftime but they were not unanswered as Homer kicked 3 of his own to complete the scoring of the first period.

HALF TIME          WASPS 18 – 16 LONDON IRISH

Wasps got their first try on 43 minutes when Sailosi Tagicakibau ripped the ball in the 22. He fed Nathan Hughes who miss passed it out Wade. Christian Wade got munched by Narraway but was not held and got back up. Johnson then collected the ball and gave it to Simpson who scored. Goode converted again. Goode stayed strong of the tee hitting 2 penalties before getting a try of his own. He collected Simpson’s pass and dotted down underneath the posts and converted his own try. Johnson gave Wasps an opportunity to attack with his drive into the 22. Haskell received the ball and flicked it out to Daly. Elliot Daly tried the offload but Ojo attempted the intercept. Topsy Ojo dropped it and Miller picked up. He offloaded to Daly who finished off another Wasps try. Goode converted and he is now the record holder in the Premiership for most points scored in a match with 33.

The clock was in red and Wasps still needed a bonus point. Lozowski gave the ball to Daly who pinged it out to Masi who stepped and scored. Alex Lozowski missed the conversion but Wasps still had the bonus point win at their new home.
