HARLEQUINS VS NORTHAMPTON SAINTS
On 5 minutes George Lowe made an immediate impact when he ran 30 metres into the 22. Yarde recycled and gave a loopy pass to Brown. Mike Brown then fed Lowe who barged over in the corner. Sweil missed the conversion but added 3 points on 9 minutes with a penalty. Myler replied with a penalty of his own but on 17 minutes he turned down the chance of another 3 and tapped it into the corner. The Saints used the driving maul and Manoa peeled of the back for the score. Myler converted. Stephen Myler added another penalty before Salesi Ma’afu was sent to the bin for a high tackle. The Saints led at halftime but were down to 14 men.
HALF TIME HARLEQUINS 8 – 13 NORTHAMPTON SAINTS
On 42 minutes Sweil attempted the clearance but Manoa charged it down then beat Hopper to the ball and produced a fabulous pickup. North than gathered his pass and scored. Myler converted from out wide to give Sants a 13 point lead. Myler and Sweil exchanged a penalty but Quins were still 10 points behind. Quins were attacking when Brown gave Clifford the ball. Jack Clifford stepped inside and scored. Sweil converted for 18-23. Myler dinked into the corner and Saints had the lineout. Fotuali’i gave Hayward the pass then recycled quickly and scored himself. Lambert powered up to the five metre mark. Care then gave Twomey the pass and he powered over for the try. Swell converted but Quins couldn’t sneak the victory and only managed the losing bonus point.
