The Lions continued their tour of Australia with an encounter against the Western Force. With the Force at home the result would never be certain however last years finalists were going to be very tough to beat.
Johan Ackermann (the Lions head coach) is a master of set piece moves and his team executed one superbly in midfield to set up the first try. Harold Vorster threw a great no-look pass to Elton Jantjies with the fly half feeding a powerful Lionel Mapoue who sprinted in amoungst the challenges. Jantjies converted but Ian Prior struck 2 penalties in reply to bring the score back to within one point.
The Lions handling was blowing the Force away. Jantjies played a ‘one two’ pass with Warren Whitely and then proceeded to spin the ball to the try scorer Mapoue but this time, he passed the ball again to Courtnall Scosan who sprinted in for the Lions second.
Ian Prior struck 3 penalties but it was the Lions who struck back again in the 80th minute. Elton Jantjies tidied up some loose ball from a scrum and threw the dummy which sent him through from short range. The Force had managed to claw themselves back into the game but it was not enough to beat the rutheless Lions!
