Sharks vs Western Force – Super Rugby 2017 – Game 9

The Sharks hosted the Force in Durban. The Sharks have been in form having won the majority of their game while the Western Force were looking to get back on track after not having won for 2 rounds.

The Sharks took an early 6 point lead through the boot of Curwin Bosch before the Force got the first try. Jonno Lance fed Billy Meakes who in turn gave a brilliant no look, over the shoulder pass to James Veritty Amm. The winger used his pace to evade the tackles of 2 players and scamper in for a magnificent try!

The Force were then stuck a big blow when Curtis Rona was shown yellow for “repeated infringements”. The Sharks took full advantage of the man down when Jeremy Ward ran straight through the middle of the Force defensive line and scored.

Lukhanyo Am then produced a great piece of skill. He dabbed a neat grubber kick through for himself, scooped the ball up and offloaded to Jean Luc Du Preez who slid over the line for the Sharks second try.

The Sharks then extended their lead again when Tatafu Polota Nau failed to catch a poor pass. Sibusiso Nkosi kicked the loose ball through and somehow Ward managed to keep the ball in with another kick ahead. Curwin Bosch lead the charge and dived onto the ball for a rather strange but great score!

The Force did get one back when Jonno Lance gave a sensational wide pass out to Marcel Brache who had a simple dive to line.

The Sharks were still fighting for the bonus point and when Heath Tessmann threw an awful no look pass that was intercepted by Lukhanyo Am who ran in with ease and it was the Sharks who took away a bonus point victory in the heat of Durban.Screen Shot 2017-05-20 at 11.47.33.png
